Japan Government MEXT Scholarship For Sudanese Students 2020

Applications are invited for the Japan Government Mext Scholarship For Sudanese Students 2020. This year the embassy of Japan started to provide MEXT scholarship for undergraduate students (secondary school graduates) as well, in addition to postgraduate students (university-level degree holders), who wish to pursue studies at Japanese universities.

The MEXT Scholarships 2020 is a fully funded scholarship in Japan for the students from Sudan. These scholarships are available for both Undergraduate and Master’s degree programs.

The Postgraduate Scholarships 2020 is for Sudanese nationals who wish to do research or get a degree in a postgraduate program (master’s or doctoral degree) in Japanese universities. The Undergraduate Scholarships is for Sudanese nationals who wish to do research or get a degree in an undergraduate program (bachelor degree) in  Japanese universities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

FOR POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

  1. Field of Study: Applicants should apply for their major field of study at university or in its related fields.
  2. Nationality: Applicants must be Sudanese nationals
  3. Age: Applicants must have been born on or after April 2, 1984.
  4. Health: Applicants must be free from any mental or physical disabilities
  5. Academic Background: Applicants must have completed or will complete 16 years of School education (including undergraduate or college)
  6.  Arrival in Japan: Applicants must be able to arrive in Japan in April 2019 or within two weeks of the date set by the receiving university for the beginning of the semester.
  7. Exception: Applicants must not be military personnel

FOR UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

MEXT accepts applications from international students to study in Japan who satisfy the following qualifications and conditions. Its aim is to foster human resources who will become bridges of friendship between the grantee’s country and Japan through study in Japan and who will contribute to the development of both countries and the wider world.

  1. Nationality: Applicants must be Sudanese nationals
  2. Age: Applicants, in principle, must have been born on or after April 2, 1985
  3. Academic Background: Applicants who have completed 12 years of schooling in countries other than Japan
  4. Japanese Language: Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese. Applicants must be interested in Japan and be willing to deepen their understanding of Japan before and after arriving in Japan. In addition, in principle, applicants must be willing to carry out their academic studies in Japan in Japanese.
  5. Health: Applicants must submit a health certificate in the prescribed format signed by a physician attesting that the applicant has no physical or mental conditions hindering the applicant’s study in Japan
  6. Arrival in Japan: In principle, applicants must be able to arrive in Japan between April 1, 2020, and April 7, 2020. Departure from the home residence should be on or after April 1, 2020.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

HOW TO APPLY?

  1. Download the application guideline and form from the website and prepare related documents for the application.
  2. Submit all required documents to the Embassy of Japan in Sudan no later than May 23rd, 2019 (14:00 P.M.). Late submission is not acceptable regardless of circumstances.
  3. Refer to the application guide for detailed information about the required documents to submit.
  4. After document screening, shortlist will be announced on June 20th, 2019.
  5. Shortlisted applicants will undergo a writing exam (June 30th, 2019) and those who pass will be interviewed at the Embassy of Japan in Sudan (July 3th, 2019)
